As it can sometimes be difficult to decide which foods you should stay away from, we have comprised a list of 22 WORST FOODS FOR DIABETICS.
1. Coffee Drinks
A regular black coffee or one with some milk is completely fine for persons with diabetes, as it contains no calories or is low in them. So, if you’re drinking plain coffee with or without milk, you have nothing to worry about.
However, many coffee shops such as Starbucks make coffee drinks that are more similar to desserts than coffee, due to their high fat, carbohydrate and calorie content. That is mainly because many restaurants will try to make their coffee more appealing by putting ice cream inside, whipped cream on top or chocolate syrup poured in. Not to mention the sprinkles, cherries on top, lots of sugar, etc.
For example, a White Chocolate Mocha (regular dose: 16 ounces) from Starbucks made with whipped cream and 2% fat milk contains 470 calories and 63 grams of carbohydrates. That is the number of calories you can take in by eating more than 200 grams of meat along with a salad, but this kind of meal wouldn’t spike up your sugar levels.
Avoid such calorie-loaded coffee drinks, as they won’t do you any good.
