4 Best Ways to Incorporate Bacon Into Your Diet

By  |

Bacon is delicious but eating it in the same way every time can become boring and make bacon unappealing. Bacon is among the most favorite breakfast ingredients, but people rarely eat it as a part of other meals during  the day, and that is mostly due to lack of good ideas on how to incorporate it into meals and make them even tastier. Sometimes, all you need are some creativity and imagination. Here are some of the ways you can include bacon into your daily diet and never get bored of it.

1. Chicken breasts wrapped in bacon

Chicken breasts are a great, protein- rich food that, with the right spices, can be very tasty. However, they can also become pretty dull if you only eat it plain and grilled all the time, especially as it can be very dry. Wrapping chicken breasts in thinly sliced bacon will add it some flavor and won’t let them dry out. There are several ways to do this, but maybe the easiest and fastest way is the following. Preheat the oven to 200°C. Wrap a piece of chicken breasts (around 3 ounces) in bacon, tighten the ends with one or two toothpicks and do the same with as much meat you need for the number people you’re preparing the food for. Place the meat into the oven and bake for around half an hour, or until the meat is soft. Serve it with a sauce made of cheese or a salad of your choice.

2. Bacon chips

If you like snacking while watching a movie, but don’t want to load your body with regular potato chips and unnecessary carbohydrates, you can make a healthier (and maybe even tastier) alternative with bacon.

Take thinly sliced pieces of bacon and put them into a heated non-stick frying pan and fry until the bacon is crispy. You may need to soak up the extra grease from the pan with a paper towel. You can eat these bacon chips as a snack or add them to sunny side ups for breakfast or dinner.

3. Spaghetti with bacon, cheese and caramelized onion

If you are in the mood for some delicious comfort food, but you’re tired of classic spaghetti dishes, try this version. Pasta is simple, but you can make it classy with these ingredients. And it’s really easy to make this dish.

For 2-4 servings (depending on how hungry you are), heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a large skillet and add one thinly sliced yellow onion to fry with a little salt until carmelized. In the meantime, boil 8 ounces of spaghetti, and when they’re done, drain them, mix in a large bowl with onions, add 1/4 cup of crumbled goat cheese, salt and pepper to taste and 5 slices of cooked and diced bacon, thick- cut into the mixture. Leave everything covered for a couple of minutes for the flavors to infuse and then you can enjoy this delicious meal.

4. Bacon pancakes

You’ve enjoyed these two foods separately, but have you ever eaten them together? You can bake this large pancake in the oven, which can make the process even easier.

Before you start preparing the pancake(s), cook thinly sliced pieces of bacon in a non-stick pan until crispy. Then crumble the bacon into the pancake batter. You can bake one large pancake in the oven (for 17-20 min on 425 degrees Fahrenheit) or a few in a skillet. You’ll get great pancakes which you can eat salty with an addition of cheese; or sweet if you pour maple syrup over it (them).
